14 karat yellow gold Plique-a-Jour pin. Plique-a-Jour in French means “open to light” and the definition is: an enameling technique in which unbacked wirework is filled with transparent enamel, resulting in a stained-glass effect. The bee’s wings are completely Plique-a-Jour in rich and beautiful hues of green with mauve accents. In addition the wings are able to move up and down…much like a tremblant (actually some have referred to the wings as tremblant.). The bee’s body is vibrant green and rich red enamel. The eyes are blue enamel. All the enamel and the Plique-a-Jour is in very good condition. Under magnification I saw no cracks, chips or scratches. This pin truly is beautiful!!
